I say dinner. It was a salad and a dessert during my work break but I felt like a treat. This is the more laid-back brother of James Street South restaurant next door. It’s all Barnsley chops and decent fish, but green leaves with a few textures to play with were on my mind. Radish, walnut and blue cheese seemed like the perfect trio. They came crumbled, chopped and thinly sliced and were altogether virtuous enough to justify a peek at the dessert menu. I really shouldn’t have! I toyed with Peach Melba (not in a poached fruit mood) and their in-house ice-cream but when I asked the waiter what he would recommend, he didn’t hesitate for a second. “Sticky toffee sundae, without a shadow of a doubt.” He was SO right. Chunks of still warm toffee cake met shards of candied nuts and caramel ice cream. It came in an old-fashioned sundae glass too and really should have been for two to share, but trust me, you won’t want to either!
